Why This Matters

If you’re experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and your doctor:

  • refuses to run labs, or

  • tells you your results are “within the normal range”

…it may be time to find a provider who will optimize your hormones until you feel good—not just “normal.”

Be Prepared Before You Call

✔️ Know your symptoms. Hormone imbalance can show up in over 100 ways—from brain fog and mood swings to fatigue and weight changes.

✔️ Write them down. Don’t let brain fog get in the way of clearly sharing what you’re experiencing.

Questions to Ask a Hormone Therapy Provider

(There are no right or wrong answers—these questions are here to help you understand your options and what a provider can offer. Some may not apply depending on their practice.)

  • Do you prescribe testosterone?

  • How do you test my baseline hormone levels before starting therapy?

  • When do you schedule follow-up testing, and how often after starting treatment?

  • Do you require testing before making changes to my plan?

  • If testing isn’t required, can I request it?

  • Can you run labs through my insurance?

  • Do you test both total and free testosterone?

  • What symptoms would concern you as my provider?
